Marlborough Football Academy REPRESENTATIVE Teams 2025

The Marlborough Football Academy is part of the Mainland Football / NZ Football Talent Development Programme, providing a regional hub for talent development. 

The academy / representative programme complements existing club and school football programmes by adding focused training hours with specialist coaching / development for players wanting the highest level of competition we can offer from Marlborough.

The Academy will run through the season, with trials in April and the first training starting beginning May, through to mid October, and includes entry in to the Christchurch International Cup in July (15th Grade only), the FC Twenty 11 Christchurch Regional Tournament in July (13th & 14th Grades Only),  and the Sth Island Representative Tournaments in September / October school holidays (All Grades 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th&17th) as the 'Marlborough' team.  Plus 3x scheduled Academy Game Days v Nelson Academies in May, June and September (All Grades 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th&17th). **See bottom of each age group below for all tournament dates and venues.

Please note - For our Marlborough Academy/representative teams there are no dispensations, we put together our strongest teams in each age group to represent Marlborough and compete in the premier Sth Island tournaments. You play in your own year of birth for representative football, regardless of what grade you play in here locally at club level.  

Please also note, for players that miss out on selection for the Academy / representative teams, there will still be regional mixed tournaments for club teams to enter in to. So we will be running the Tasman Club reps for all Marlborough & Nelson club players to experience and enjoy a tournament. These will run over the same time as the Sth Island represenative tournaments and are for players that are not in a representative team.

ALL REGISTERED PLAYERS FROM THE 2024 SEASON WILL BE SENT AN EMAIL DIRECT FROM MARLBOROUGH FOOTBALL ON 20TH MARCH 2025 TO INVITE THEM TO TRIAL FOR THE ACADEMY IN THE TEAM THEY ARE ELIGIBLE FOR IN 2025. *REGISTRATIONS ARE OPEN NOW.


COST: Once teams are selected all players will be charged $300 *Due 20th June 

*THE $300 COVERS WEEKLY TRAININGS & INCLUDES ACADEMY/REP PLAYING SHIRT FOR GAMES/TOURNAMENTS THAT ALL PLAYERS KEEP 

*COST OF  MAROON SOCKS ($19), MAROON SHORTS ($32) &  HOODED JERSEY ($98) IS SEPARATE.

PURCHASE OF MAROON SOCKS & SHORTS IS COMPULSARY FOR GAME DAY UNIFORM, AND PURCHASE OF HOODIE IS OPTIONAL.


(Fundraising by teams to be done towards ALL tournament costs - team entry/accommodation/food/travel expenses - Any shortfall from fundraising is paid by players/parents)


GIRLS:  

There are no academy groups separate for girls as we don’t have the numbers for separate academy girls age groups. But, girls are welcome to trial in their age grade alongside the boys, and those capable will be selected to join in the boys group weekly academy trainings and cost will be half price $150 as you will only be travelling away to the 1 tournament in July in Christchurch. If a girl is selected the squad will travel as a mixed team to FC Twenty 11 Christchurch Tournament or Christchurch International Cup (depending on which age group), but after July the girls will move in to the Marlborough Football Girls teams for trainings and these representative teams will travel spearately to their respective Girls and Boys Sth Island Representative tournaments in October.

We WILL have trials mid-end June for Marlborough Football girls representative sides for the Sth Island Representative Tournaments in September / October.  We will advertise these once the season is underway and we can see how many girls we have registered this year in each age group and if we have enough to form teams.
